About us

Beantown Model Collectors’ Association (BMCA) was founded as a hobby club in the year 2017 by Aditya Menon, who is also the President of the Association. BMCA represents a group of like-minded hobbyists sharing a common passion of collecting miniature scale models of cars, motorcycles, aeroplanes, trains, ships, important historical buildings, human figurines and dioramas.

Most of BMCA’s Members have been collecting scale models, as a hobby, since childhood. Some of us stopped collecting as children and rekindled our interest and passion in this hobby as adults. We consider this a serious hobby and all of us value our collections as investments rather than just objects of desire.

In 2021 BMCA was registered as an Association under the Karnataka Societies Act. We have 26 active Members at present (view our Members in the “Meet the Beantowners” section below). Membership is exclusive and is subject to the Managing Committee’s approval. Membership at BMCA is paid and the minimum joining age is 18 years. Should you like to join BMCA please leave us a note in the “Contact Us” section and we will hit you back as soon as we can.

One of BMCA’s objectives is to visit schools and impress upon children the importance of inculcating a hobby. In today’s world where children are given pocket money from a young age we feel investing a small portion of that in your hobby can instil values such as discipline, responsibility and sharing (not just physical possessions but also knowledge and ideas) besides being a source of education and learning. One of our long term objectives is to open a scale model museum in the city of Bengaluru.

Meet-ups

The club meets every month on the second Sunday for a “themed” meet where all Members bring their models relevant to that theme. Besides monthly meet-ups we host a Trade Meet once every year for all scale model collectors in Bangalore. We also launched our own scale model magazine "The Beantowner" and have released four issues till date.

In The News

Our model displays at meet-ups at various cafes, restaurants and breweries create quite a buzz not just with the management of these establishments but also among fellow diners (both kids and adults alike), budding scale model collectors and well wishers. Many establishments invite BMCA to host their meet-ups regularly at their venues. We have on many occasions been contacted by various news dailies (and on one occasion a news channel as well) for articles / interviews on BMCA, its Members and the hobby in general.
